How does the 'Surplus Solar for Comfort' plan actually work?

'Surplus Solar for Comfort' is an innovative home automation plan designed for households with split system air conditioners and compatible rooftop solar systems. By using our LinkZB or LinkPro Solar Management Gateway and our AirFlex Smart Thermostat, this plan optimises the use of surplus solar energy to enhance home comfort. The automation dynamically adjusts your air conditioning load based on solar energy production, maximising efficiency and minimising reliance on grid power.

When Does This Automation Run?
This automation runs when your home solar system is exporting surplus energy to the grid. The 'solar follow' feature increases the split system load during periods of high solar production and decreases it when solar production drops, ensuring your home's comfort is maintained while efficiently using available solar power. You can also manually schedule when this feature operates to suit your lifestyle and energy needs.

How Do You Access My Solar and My Air Con?
The LinkZB or LinkPro Solar Management Gateway connects to your rooftop solar inverter over Wi-Fi or Ethernet using Modbus communication. The AirFlex Smart Thermostat is set up via the Linkit+ app which you then easily link to your Voltello app account. During onboarding, you'll be guided through connecting each device, allowing seamless control and integration of your solar and air conditioning systems.

How Do I Maintain Control?
You maintain complete control over the automation through the Voltello app. You can manually set schedules, view a history of Demand Response events, and see all active events in real-time. The app also allows you to set a single temperature range for all HVAC units during Demand Response events and easily toggle automation on/off for different split systems in your home. Additionally, you can delegate access to family members for assistance with configuration and management.
