How much will I save with the ‘Surplus Solar for Comfort’ plan?
Smart thermostats like the AirFlex have been available for over a decade, and if a thermostat can connect to Wi-Fi, it is considered 'smart.' High-end models use data to optimise heating and cooling automatically. While calculating real savings is complex due to variables like energy efficiency, temperature, humidity, and human behaviour, evidence suggests that even basic smart thermostats save an average of 8% on energy bills. Thermostats allowing for automations like the AirFlex typically save more, averaging 10% to 12% on heating and 15% on cooling. For the average Australian household, this translates to around $192 per year, although savings could be much higher. We are developing a calculator to help customers estimate their potential energy savings more accurately.
