Some customers have conditions applying to their solar installation that prohibit exporting greater than a certain limit (in kW). The ‘Maximum Export’ setting in the 'Solar for Amber' or 'Solar for Localvolts' Preferences can be used when a customer has an integrated Smart Meter to ensure that exports do not exceed the limit imposed.
Most batteries are configured to charge when there is surplus solar, i.e. when energy is being exported to the grid. If this is how your battery is configured, the ‘Maximum Export’ settings needs to be at least 0.05 to ensure the battery can see some surplus solar.
The ‘Maximum Export’ setting does not impact battery discharging.
