Welcome to the Voltello Web-Based Smart Onboarding platform! This guide walks homeowners through commissioning their home solar, battery, or smart meter system without needing to download the mobile app.
Note
No App Download Required: You can complete your entire system registration, hardware pairing, and Dynamic Export / CSIP-AUS grid enrollment directly from any modern web browser on your phone, tablet, or computer. If you wish to use the Voltello mobile app later for daily monitoring, simply download the app from the App Store or Google Play and log in with the same email address.
1. Before You Begin: Hardware Setup & Prerequisites
Before starting the web onboarding process, please ensure your Voltello LinkPro gateway has been properly connected to your home network and powered on.
Essential Hardware Checklist
- Connect via Ethernet: Connect the Voltello LinkPro to your home internet router or switch using the provided yellow/blue network cable. A wired Ethernet connection is required for reliable on-site device communication.
- Power via USB: Plug the provided USB-C power cable into the LinkPro and connect it to a standard wall power outlet.
Wait at least 10 minutes before starting:
[!IMPORTANT] The 10-Minute Waiting Period: When the LinkPro powers on for the first time with an active internet connection, it automatically links to the secure Village Energy cloud and checks for software updates. If an update is available, it performs an Over-The-Air (OTA) firmware installation.
Waiting 10 minutes ensures the LinkPro has completed all automatic updates and is fully ready to discover your solar inverter, battery, and smart meter.
- Your Email Address: Used as your primary login, ownership identity, and for security verification.
- National Metering Identifier (NMI): A 10- or 11-digit number found on the front or back of your electricity bill (e.g.,
QB01234567 or 2001001234). - LinkPro Serial Number: Located alongside the QR code on the product label on the side of your LinkPro device (e.g.,
009800ABC123).
2. Choosing Your Onboarding Option
There are two ways to complete your onboarding:
Option 1: You Have an Installer on Site (Flow B — Recommended): Generate a 24-hour authorisation code on your phone/computer and forward it to your electrician. The installer will complete the setup on site and receive delegated access to support your system. → Follow Section 3: Flow B Guide.
Option 2: You Are Setting Up the System Yourself (Flow A): Complete the 3-step commissioning wizard directly in your browser. → Follow Section 4: Flow A Guide.
3. Option 1: Pre-Authorising Your Installer (Flow B — Recommended)
If an accredited solar or battery installer is visiting your property, you do not need to wait around or hand over your personal phone. You can generate a secure authorisation code ahead of time (valid for 24 hours or up to 7 days) and forward it to your installer via SMS, email, or a job sheet.
Step 1: Open the Customer Pre-Authorization Page
In your web browser, navigate to: https://msapi.vecddevau1.village.energy/webhook/handler/voltello/onboard-authorize
(If your battery or inverter installer provided you with a brand-specific link, such as /ecoflow/onboard-authorize or /bluetti/onboard-authorizeyou can open that link directly.)
Step 2: Request Your Authorisation Code
- Primary System Brand: Select your system brand from the dropdown (or leave as Voltello (Any Brand / Installer Selects Hardware) if you aren't sure).
- Your Email Address: Enter your primary email address.
- Validity Window: Select how long the code should remain valid. We recommend 24 Hours (or up to 7 days if your installation is scheduled later in the week).
- Click "Generate & Send 24h+ Installer Code".
Step 3: Forward the Code to Your Installer
Check your email inbox for a message from Voltello containing your 6-digit verification PIN (e.g., 482910).
You have two convenient ways to share this with your installer:
- Method A (Quick): Simply text or email the 6-digit number to your installer (e.g., "Hi, my Voltello code is 482910").
- Method B (1-Click Link): Enter the 6-digit PIN into the web page under "Enter 6-Digit Customer PIN". The page will instantly generate a personalised commissioning link. Click "Copy Installer Link" or "Send via Email" to send it directly to your installer.
Your installer will open their commissioning wizard, verify their credentials, connect your hardware, and register your system. Once finished:
- You will receive a "Service Entity Owner Added" confirmation email confirming that your site has been registered.
- You remain the exclusive Site Owner.
- Your installer receives 'approved' delegated access, allowing them to check diagnostic health and support your system without needing your password.
4. Option 2: Self-Commissioning Your System (Flow A — Direct Customer Setup)
If you are self-installing or configuring your own equipment:
Step 1: Open the Commissioning Wizard
Navigate to: https://msapi.vecddevau1.village.energy/webhook/handler/voltello/onboard-installer
At the top right of the banner, click "Flow A (Customer)" to switch to direct customer mode.
Step 2: Request Your Verification Code
- Select your Primary OEM Brand (e.g. EcoFlow, Bluetti, Fronius, Sungrow, Solis, Sonnen, etc.).
- Enter your Email Address.
- Click "Send Customer 6-Digit Verification Code".
- Check your email for your 6-digit PIN.
- 6-Digit PIN: Enter the code received in your email.
- Customer Name & Mobile: Enter your first name, last name, and Australian mobile number.
- Installation Address: Enter your street address, suburb, state, and postcode.
- National Metering Identifier (NMI): Enter the 10- or 11-digit NMI from your electricity bill.
- LinkPro Serial Number: Enter the serial number from the product label on the side of your LinkPro device, alongside the QR code (e.g.,
009800ABC123). - Device Type & Additional Brands: Select your primary equipment (Battery Storage, Smart Inverter, or Smart Meter). If you have multiple brands on site, check any applicable additional brand boxes.
- Grid / VPP Automation: Leave set to CSIP-AUS Dynamic Export / VPP (default) if participating in dynamic solar/battery export programs, or select None for local monitoring only.
- Click "Verify & Start Automated Commissioning".
Step 4: Monitor Live Commissioning
The web wizard will display your live commissioning dashboard and guide you through 5 automated steps:
- Account Activation: Your customer profile is verified and activated.
- Service Entity Setup: Your site address and NMI are linked to your profile.
- LinkPro IoT Gateway Online: Confirms your LinkPro is communicating with the cloud.
- Device Discovery: Modbus network sweeps detect your inverter, battery, and smart meter.
- CSIP-AUS / Grid Automation: Automatically enrols your system with your local electricity network distributor.
When all steps display green checkmarks, your system is fully commissioned!
5. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What if my LinkPro does not appear online?
- Make sure the Ethernet cable is plugged into a live LAN port on your internet router.
- Ensure the USB-C power adapter is securely connected and the device LEDs are lit.
- Verify that at least 10 minutes have passed since plugging the LinkPro in to allow any automatic Over-The-Air (OTA) firmware updates to complete.
Your National Metering Identifier (NMI) is a 10- or 11-digit number printed on your electricity bill, usually located on the second page under "Meter Details" or "Supply Details".
Can I still use the Voltello Mobile App?
Yes! The web interface and the Voltello mobile app share the exact same secure cloud backend. Once your site is commissioned via the web:
- Download the Voltello app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Enter the same email address you used during web onboarding.
- Enter the 6-digit login PIN sent to your email.
