What remote access capabilities do the LinkZB/LinkPro devices provide Village Energy? I'd like to understand the security model.
The LinkZB/LinkPro device is designed with security and ease of use in mind. Here's how it works and what you need to know:
- No Remote Access via SSH: Our tech team does not have SSH (Secure Shell) access to the LinkZB/LinkPro device. SSH is a method often used to remotely log into a device, but we do not use it for the LinkZB/LinkPro.
- Over-the-Air Updates: We can update the LinkZB/LinkPro's software remotely. This process is known as OTA (Over-the-Air) firmware updates. It ensures that your device always has the latest features and security improvements without needing any direct access.
- Secure Communication: The LinkZB/LinkPro communicates with our cloud servers using a secure method involving device/client certificates and the MQTT protocol. This means the data sent between your device and our servers is encrypted and secure.
- Local Communication: Within your home, the LinkZB/LinkPro communicates with your inverters using a local protocol called Modbus. This is a standard method for devices to talk to each other within a local network.
In summary, the LinkZB/LinkPro is designed to be secure and user-friendly. There is no remote access that could potentially expose your home network to threats, and all communications are securely managed.
