You will need to complete these steps for each inverter if you have multiple.
1. Connect to your Inverter's interface.
Go to your inverter and open the WiFi access point. To do this, first press the outer arrow key to get to the main menu, then switch to the setup menu.
Navigate to the item WiFi access point. This is opened with a Double click.
Here, you will see the network name (SS) as well as the corresponding password (PW) which are needed for the next step. The network name (SS) contains the Datalogger ID: 240.xxxxx or 239.
Now, switch to a smart device (laptop etc) and open the network (WiFi) settings. Choose the network name (SS) you found on the inverter and enter the password (12345678).
Once connected, go to IP address: 192.168.250.181 (or the IP address of your inverter/Datamanager)
If you don’t know the IP Address for your Fronius inverter, this can be found under
the ‘wireless clients’ page in your routers admin page, or by typing ‘arp -a’ from a
command line (Windows) or terminal (MacOS).
2. Log in as an 'Admin' User
If you don’t know the ‘Admin’ password for the Fronius inverter, raise a support ticket with us and send us your inverter model and Serial Number of each inverter. We'll raise a case with Fronius which will enable us to help you reset your 'Admin' password.
3. Enable Modbus settings
Select ‘Modbus’ from the left menu to open Modbus settings.
- Select ‘tcp’ for ‘Data export via Modbus’
- Change the Sunspec Model type to 'float'
- Make sure you accept (tick) to apply changes.
Congratulations, Modbus TCP is now enabled.
4. Set the Controlling Priorities to prioritise Modbus
- In your Inverter settings, go to the DNO Editor tab and make sure that Controlling via Modbus is set to priority number 1.
- Use the Up and down arrows to move Controlling via Modbus to position number 1.
Make sure you 'tick' ✓ to save your changes.
Repeat these steps for each Fronius SnapInverter you have.
If you are prompted for a different password type ('Service' or 'User'), we can help resetting these too. Raise a case with your inverter(s) model and Serial Number.
You will need the 'Admin' or 'Service' Password to access the Modbus and Control Priorities Settings.
