Is Voltello compatible with my existing battery?
Most batteries are configured to charge when there is surplus solar, i.e. when energy is being exported to the grid. When the Voltello link device activates export control (when we limit exports) we maintain a small level of exports (0.05 kW) to ensure the battery sees surplus solar and charges. As the charging rate increases, we also increase the solar production to meet the needs of the battery while never exporting more than 0.05 kW.
Update: New Feature Alert!
We're currently making improvements for this functionality, including:
- An adjustable Maximum Export during negative FiT, for Export Control users
- A Scheduled Maximum Production feature for those who don't use Export Control (i.e. users without a Smart Meter)
If you would like to try these features, please raise a support ticket with us and we will add you to this trial!
